Ninth Annual VCU Libraries Black History Month Lecture

Melissa Harris-Perry will discuss the role of race and gender in politics at the ninth annual VCU Libraries Black History Month Lecture next week.
“An Evening with Melissa Harris-Perry,” sponsored by the VCU Friends of the Library, takes place on Thursday, Feb. 10, at 7 p.m. in the W.E. Singleton Center for the Performing Arts, 922 Park Ave.
Harris-Perry is associate professor of politics and African-American studies at Princeton University. Her academic research investigates the challenges facing contemporary black Americans and the multiple ways that they respond to these challenges. She is an award-winning author and appears regularly on MSNBC and other media outlets.
The lecture is free and open to the public. Parking is available for a fee in the West Main Street and West Cary Street parking decks.
