Monday nights could become the new blockbuster night as viewers look forward to the latest productions from VCU-TV/HD, the student-run television production operation at Virginia Commonwealth University.
Coming up Nov. 20 are three original, half-hour programs, produced in cinéma vérité style, which will air on WCVW on TV Channel 57 and cable Channel 24. The lineup includes:
• 9 p.m. – VCU Theater Presents: What is “Medea”? This is the first in a five-part documentary series on the making of this contemporary take on the class Greek tragedy featuring deaf actress Mary Vreeland.
• 9:30 p.m. – Cinemaphiles. The continuation in a series of portraits of current and former VCU film students and their work.
• 10 p.m. – Amped! Various Richmond bands in different stages of their career are featured in this behind-the-scenes look at the struggle to break through in the indie music scene.
Thanks to a partnership with Community Idea Stations, owned by Commonwealth Public Broadcasting, the VCU-TV/HD programs air two Mondays a month, through March 19.
