Virginia Commonwealth University's Just Say Hello Campaign and the VCU Child Development Center will present a silent auction featuring childrens' artwork to benefit VCU's Child Development Center in the creation of an outdoor play area for children known as a natural playscape.

The auction will feature an art piece donated by Dr. W. Baxter Perkinson, rector for the VCU Board of Visitors and noted landscape artist, as well as other items donated by different area vendors, such as gift certificates and CDs. In addition, there will be songs performed by the children of the VCU Child Development Center.

Launched by the VCU Staff Senate and Roderick McDavis, Ph.D., provost and vice president for academic affairs, VCU's Just Say Hello Campaign was created to help make the campus a safer and friendlier environment. The campaign also includes Friendship Ambassadors, a program that recognizes co-workers and peers nominated by their peers for being friendly and helpful to others in the work environment

The auction will take place Thursday, April 3, 11:45 a.m.-2:30 p.m. in VCU's Park Plaza between the W.E. Singleton Center for the Performing Arts and the Hibbs building. For more information, call 828-2340.
