STATEMENT BY VCU PRESIDENT EUGENE P. TRANI

In recent days there has been considerable media coverage concerning anonymous allegations that Virginia Commonwealth University improperly awarded an undergraduate degree in May 2007.  While as VCU's president I am eager to respond to these allegations, as I care deeply about the integrity of this institution and I am proud of our graduates, the Rector and the Chair of the committee investigating this matter have asked that I not comment until the investigation is completed.  I am respecting their request and I look forward to a thorough yet timely completion of the review.  I will issue a statement at the conclusion of the review.
