VCU’s Year of Freedom is hosting the Virginia Civil War 150 HistoryMobile. The traveling exhibit is parked between Cabell Library and Hibbs Building on the Monroe Park Campus. Tours were conducted today and will be offered again tomorrow, Nov. 8, from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. The exhibit is open to the public, free of charge.
The Civil War 150 HistoryMobile is a state-of-the-art, interactive “museum on wheels,” housed in a 53-foot expandable tractor-trailer. Visitors experience the Civil War through the personal stories and perspectives of those who lived through it, including soldiers, civilians and slaves.
The four-year tour launched on July 21, 2011, the 150th anniversary of the First Battle of Manassas, and has traveled to museums, parks, fairs, schools and other sites.
