Each year researchers at Virginia Commonwealth University create more than 100 inventions. These inventors, and their innovations, will be celebrated during the 6th Annual “Invented at VCU” Reception hosted by VCU Tech Transfer, which is part of the Office of Research.

The reception will be held Monday, Oct. 24, from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. in the Atrium of Virginia Bio Technology Research Park, 800 E. Leigh St.

During the reception, the VCU Inventor of the Year will be announced and recognized for creating a product on the market that has made an impact by improving the quality of life and filling an unmet market need.

The mission of VCU Tech Transfer is to foster a culture of innovation at the university and to protect and commercialize inventions created by the VCU research enterprise for the benefit of society. Tech Transfer is also helping build vital partnerships between VCU innovators and the business community.

Remarks, which will begin at 4:30 p.m., will be made by Michael Rao, Ph.D., president of VCU; Francis Macrina Ph.D., vice president for Research; Ivelina Metcheva, Ph.D., director of VCU Tech Transfer; and the inventor of the year.
