The African-American Alumni Council of Virginia Commonwealth University recently elected officers for its 2004-2006 term.
Franklin Wallace, a 1987 VCU School of the Arts alumnus and director of the Americorps/AmericaReads program in VCU’s Office of Community Programs will lead the committee as president.
Other new AAAC officers include Mary Francis, 1995 VCU alumnus and the committee's new secretary and Edward Robinson, the committee's new parliamentarian.
The AAAC is an affiliate group of the VCU Alumni Association created in 1990 to unify VCU and its African-American alumni. Today, AAAC has nearly 250 members and has gained support from VCU faculty, staff and students.
The committee hosts annual reunions and professional development and mentoring programs. The AAAC also promotes and contributes to recruitment, retention and overall growth of VCU’s African-American student body.
