VCU Board of Visitors Selects Search Firm to Assist in Presidential Search

The Virginia Commonwealth Board of Visitors announced today that it has hired the higher education search firm Greenwood/Asher & Associates, Inc., of Miramar, Fla., as a consultant to the Presidential Search Committee and the board in recruiting VCU’s next president.
The board considered 12 proposals and the top four firms made presentations to the Board of Visitors. Dr. Jan Greenwood, the firm’s president and a former university president and professor, has conducted more than 700 searches in her career and will be the lead consultant. Dr. Stephen Portch also will continue as advisor to the board and search committee and work in partnership with Greenwood.
Eugene P. Trani, Ph.D., is retiring from the positions of university president and president and chair of the VCU Health System effective June 30, 2009. He will remain at VCU as University Distinguished Professor.
