Virginia Commonwealth University has planned a full slate of events and activities for April to celebrate its second annual Alumni Month, starting with an ice cream social in Shafer Court on Friday.
The Alumni Month Kick-Off Ice Cream Social on Friday will start at 2 p.m. at the Compass in Shafer Court on the Monroe Park Campus. Alumni, faculty, staff and retired faculty are invited to attend the free event. Following a group photograph in the Compass area, attendees will step inside the Shafer Court Dining Center for ice cream. All attendees are encouraged to wear black-and-gold apparel to show their school spirit and to contribute to a memorable photograph. Registration is required, either online at https://www.kintera.org/AutoGen/Register/Register.asp?ievent=469872 or by calling 804-828-2586.
VCU Alumni Month features a schedule packed with lectures, forums, service projects, presentations, receptions, dinners, dedications, bike rides, golf tournaments and other social and spirit activities.
Highlights include Reunion Weekend, a concert featuring the work of alumni composers, special VCU events at games of both the Richmond Flying Squirrels and the Richmond Raiders, a canal cruise, an antique car show, a Rams Night Out event spread over several area restaurants and an author luncheon with novelist and VCU alumnus David Baldacci, among many other events.
