The VCU Health System and The Supply Room Companies will host the "Companies That Care Best Practices Road Show" at The Supply Room Companies corporate headquarters in Ashland, Va., from 8:30 a.m. to noon on Tuesday, Nov. 7. The keynote speaker will be John F. "Jack" Berry from Venture Richmond (formerly known as Richmond Renaissance). The topic is "Revitalizing Richmond: Needs, Opportunities and How You Can Help." Berry and others will lead discussions about how local corporations and organizations can get involved in revitalizing Richmond.

The premise of the best practices roadshow is for companies to share business strategies that strengthen employees and build community spirit, resulting in making Richmond a more attractive place to draw new businesses and improve the community as a whole.

The Center for Companies That Care is a national, nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing the well-being of employees and communities.  Through education and facilitating collaborations on behalf of local communities, the organization inspires all employers to be Companies That Care.

More than 30 local businesses and organizations have registered to participate in roundtable discussions and community collaboration opportunities. There will be diverse representation from many aspects of the greater Richmond corporate community.

In recent years, The Supply Room Companies and Virginia Commonwealth University Health System (both of whom were selected for the "2006 Companies that Care Honor Roll") have participated in national initiatives to put classroom libraries in disadvantaged schools in the Richmond area (Terrific Tales) and replace athletic equipment at Mississippi schools that were devastated by Katrina (Spring Back to Life).
