Where would you go to get your message heard? Facebook, City Hall, the General Assembly? One adventurous man decided the best way to spread his message was to hop on a 420-pound bicycle and ride around the world.
The VCU School of Business hosted a stop on the SAP and Interactive Design Foundation (IDF) “Share the Knowledge Tour” on June 10 at Snead Hall, featuring “Around the World Biker” Max Peer, who is circling the globe to promote open access to quality educational materials on interactive design, available for free through IDF, and to spread his message that education is the most powerful way to lift people out of poverty and to change lives.
Peer’s tour began in Orlando on May 13.
“It doesn’t matter where you live or where you are, you can have access to education,” Peer said. “Being a physical presence is incredibly important to reaching people and promoting the initiative.”
The VCU Department of Information Systems participates in SAP’s University Alliance Program to get free systems to train students with tools used by local companies. SAP provides enterprise application software and services to more than 238,000 customers. IDF is a nonprofit organization focused on educating the global technology design community by combining free online courses with a website.
