The Virginia Commonwealth University Institute for Women’s Health will host ‘”Celebrating Women’s Health: Our Bodies, Ourselves,” an event to inspire women to take charge of their health and learn about health services and resources available at VCU.
The event will take place Friday, Sept. 25, from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Science Museum of Virginia, 2500 W. Broad St.
All VCU faculty, students, staff and community members with an interest in women’s health are welcome and encouraged to attend.
Judy Norsigian, an internationally known women’s health activist and writer, will lead a discussion on the movement that has shaped women’s health, share perspectives on emerging health issues and talk about how women can play a central role in making decisions about their health. Norsigian is co-founder and executive director of Our Bodies, Ourselves, which is also known as the Boston Women’s Health Book Collective, a nonprofit, public interest women’s health education, advocacy and consulting organization.
The event features health screenings, a showcase of VCU’s health services and resources for women, information about current research in women’s health and a book signing with Norsigian.
