The Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center continues its free educational seminar series this winter featuring experts who provide important health information and answer questions on a variety of current topics in health care.

The series’ next lecture, “Gynecologic Cancers: Prevention and Screening,” will take place on March 13 from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden, Education and Library Complex, 1800 Lakeside Ave. It is free and open to the public, but registration is required. For more information, or to register, call 804-828-0123 or email seminars@mcvh-vcu.edu. Online registration is available at https://redcap.vcu.edu/rc/surveys/?s=g3uYRen2EG.

“Gynecologic Cancers: Prevention and Screening” will be presented by Jori Carter, M.D., VCU Massey Cancer Center. The seminar will discuss the five main types of cancer that can affect a woman’s reproductive organs — cervical, ovarian, uterine, vaginal and vulvar. Although screening is only currently available for cervical cancer, other prevention techniques may reduce the risk of gynecologic cancers in certain individuals.
