VCU Medical Center Presents Injury and Violence Prevention Symposium

The Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center’s Division of Trauma, Critical Care and Emergency Surgery will present its first Injury and Violence Prevention Program Symposium this week.
"Leveraging Resources – The Intersection of a Hospital-Based Violence Prevention Program with the Public & Private Sector" will take place March 25 from 11:45 a.m. to 5 p.m. at The Richmond Marriott, 500 E. Broad St. The seminar is open to the public, but registration is required with a fee of $45.
The symposium will focus on the different ways the community can work together and utilize resources to attain the goal of reducing youth violence. In addition, presenters will outline risk factors associated with injury and violence, highlight existing local intervention programs and identify areas in need of improvement.
The event’s keynote speaker is Richmond Mayor Dwight C. Jones, who will give a presentation on youth violence and the state of the city of Richmond.
