The Virginia Commonwealth University Peppas and two musicians who are VCU employees will take the Worlds stage this week – at least, a stage right next to the 2015 UCI Road World Championships.

The week’s scheduled live music, which kicked off Monday at the State Employee Zone outside of the James Madison Building, allows state employees from many departments to share their musical talents.

At 11 a.m. tomorrow, Demitrus Carter will get the tunes underway by performing R&B and inspirational music. Carter, an alumnus and employee of the admissions office, was featured on “American Idol” earlier this year.

On Friday, the Peppas will start the day at 11:15 a.m. during the women’s junior road circuit competition. In addition, Ariel Unser, who works in the Department of Internal Medicine, is scheduled to perform acoustic guitar at 1 p.m. during the men’s under-23 road circuit race.

The employee zone will feature food trucks and a premium view of the challenging Governor’s Street climb. The James Madison Building is located at Governor’s and Bank streets. Employees must bring ID to enter.
