The Dominion Foundation has awarded $30,000 to the Virginia Commonwealth University Rice Center for a year-long environmental program for undergraduate students in the environmental sciences.
The grant will fund a hands-on research experience, focusing on water resources and the impact of humans on the nation’s rivers.
The Inger and Walter Rice Center for Environmental Life Sciences is Virginia Commonwealth University’s field station devoted to a broad array of environmental research, teaching and public service.
The funding was part of $500,000 in grants that the foundation — the philanthropic arm of Dominion Resources — awarded to 16 colleges and community colleges in Virginia to support programs in business, skilled craft, engineering, environmental and technical studies, and for student-led conservation programs.
