VCU School of Business presents Summer Lunch & Learn Series

Topics will focus on building business and brands, motivating employees and how good health contributes to enhanced leadership and innovation

A lecture on being an intentional designer of a brand experience kicks off the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Business’ Summer Lunch & Learn Series.

The monthly series, presented by the Center for Corporate Education, will feature dynamic speakers from the School of Business tackling cutting-edge topics.

Each of the lectures will be held from noon to 1:15 p.m. in Snead Hall, 301 W. Main St. Each session is $25 and includes parking and lunch.

Andrew LeVasseur, head of the Creative Technology track at the VCU Brandcenter, will share specific examples of how leading businesses and brands have been able to adapt and redefine their value over time in the face of change (while some have not).

“Motivation at Work”

Allison Gabriel, Ph.D., assistant professor of management, will discuss different strategies for motivating employees to promote engagement. In today’s dynamic and turbulent organizations, many top management executives are becoming increasingly concerned with having a workforce that is engaged and excited about their work on a day-to-day basis. One key factor in helping promote such positive states is how motivated employees are.

“Health, Fitness and Leadership”

The science is clear: Physical activity and healthy choices do more than create good health, they contribute to leadership, productivity and innovation. Jay Markiewicz, executive director of entrepreneurship programs, will educate participants on defining a realistic healthy lifestyle and the innovative approach to attaining that lifestyle.
