Virginia Commonwealth University's School of Dentistry will take part in Give Kids a Smile Day – a nationwide effort to focus attention on the epidemic of untreated oral disease among disadvantaged children.
The event will take place Friday, Feb. 1, from 8 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. at the VCU Pediatric Dental Clinic, 521 N. 11th St., in the WoodsBuilding of the School of Dentistry.
The clinic will be providing cleanings, sealants, restorative work, extractions and education. The number for further information on appointments is 828-9095.
February is National Children's
Dental Health Month, and on Friday, more than 51,000 dental professionals will
provide free dental services to more than 500,000 children from low-income
families, at more than 2,000 sites nationwide. It is part of the American
Dental Association's sixth annual Give Kids A Smile program, which offers
educational materials, screenings and, where possible, free dental care such as
cleaning, fluoride treatments, fillings and even more intensive care.
