The Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts presents its annual “Open Nite” event, showcasing the semester’s work of students from the Departments of Fashion Design and Merchandising, Graphic Design, Interior Design and Photography.

The event takes place Friday, Dec. 12, from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Pollak Building, 325 N. Harrison St.

In addition to live music and a tour of the building’s green roof and studios, at 7 p.m. the fashion department will present its first Cotton University “Wearable Art” fashion show, comprising cotton thrift shop finds that have been deconstructed and remade into garments that demonstrate the versatility, sustainability and uncompromising style of cotton. Winning garments from FASH 240 Survey of the Fashion Industry will be featured along with the student creators as models.
