VCU Service Awards to recognize personal milestones

Since its inception in 1972, the annual Service Awards program has recognized faculty and staff for their years of commitment and service to the teaching, research, service and patient-care missions of Virginia Commonwealth University and the VCU Medical Center. This year, service milestones will continue to be recognized.

VCU President Eugene P. Trani will host a celebration for all recipients at one function on Thursday, Oct. 30, at the Larrick Student Center, 641 N. 8th St., Richmond, from 2:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The 2003 Dorris Douglas Budd Award recipient will be introduced at this time. This award, which was established in 1981 to recognize its namesake's long-standing commitment to VCU, continues to recognize outstanding University and Medical Center support staff for their efforts to enhance the image and mission of the institution.

In addition to the celebration, recipients will receive the gifts that they chose to commemorate their service. Some faculty and staff with long service will be able to choose from two limited-edition gifts created by VCU alumni.

Reaching personal milestones is the focus of Service Awards recognition. In acknowledging the achievements of these individuals, the institution also recognizes all the faculty and staff who are working hard to enable the VCU and the VCU Medical Center to achieve milestones as well.
