VCU to host event on spinal cord injury

Richmond, Va. (April 24, 2006) - Virginia Commonwealth University’s Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Spinal Cord Injury Program will host “Living Fully With A Disability,” an event that will provide access, information and opportunities for individuals with mobility impairments.
Free and open to the public, the event will take place Friday, April 28, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Science Museum of Virginia, 2500 W. Broad St.
Speakers at the event will include James Rothrock, commissioner of the Department of Rehabilitation Services, and Daryl Chill Mitchell from the popular television sitcom “Ed.” Speakers will give presentations on relevant topics and will be available afterward for questions.
Representatives from community organizations and programs serving the needs of people with disabilities will be on hand to provide information about their programs.
The Spinal Cord Injury Program was designed to guide patients through acute injury, recovery, rehabilitation and follow-up care. The program’s goal is to return patients to the community.
