VCU To Host T. Edward Temple Executive In Residence Lecture

Virginia Commonwealth University's L. Douglas Wilder School Of Government and Public Affairs and the Virginia Local Government Managers Association are co-sponsoring a conference in conjunction with the T. Edward Temple Executive in Residence Endowed Lecture for 2006.

Robert J. "Bob" O'Neill, executive director of the International City/County Managers Association, will speak on "Ethics and Governance" at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 2, in the Founder's Room of the Siegel Center, located at Broad and Harrison streets. A reception will precede, beginning at 6 p.m.

A conference on local government will be held on Friday, Nov. 3, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. at the University Commons, Commonwealth Room A, 907 Floyd Ave. Both events are free and open to the public.

O'Neill, a former Fairfax County executive and Hampton city manager, is executive director of the International City/County Managers Association. He is also the former president of the National Academy of Public Administrations.

The local government conference features local leaders from across Virginia who will lead discussions about emergency preparedness and life as a local government manager.

VCU established the T. Edward Temple Executive in Residence as a continuing memorial to the late Dr. Temple, the second president of the university.
