VCU to Offer Nonprofit Leader Training

Virginia Commonwealth University's Especially for Nonprofit Organizations is offering an eight-month training program for the next generation of nonprofit leaders.

"Emerging Nonprofit Leaders" will be held from November 2007 to June 2008.  Application materials are available from Deb Cuny, program coordinator, at cunyd@vcu.edu and are due by Friday, Oct. 5 at 4 p.m. Program tuition is subsidized through VCU, the Jessie Ball DuPont Fund and The Community Foundation. Tuition is $800.

This program is for nonprofit leaders who:

  • Are currently employed by a nonprofit in the Richmond metro or Tri-cities area.
  • Have potential to make significant future contributions by assuming higher levels of leadership, taking on new management roles or moving to a larger nonprofit.
  • Have substantive history of involvement in the nonprofit sector through employment, volunteerism or board service.
  • Have supervisory and budgetary experience and responsibility.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to ongoing professional development and continuing education.

The training offers participants the opportunity to deepen their understanding of their leadership capacity, advance their understanding and practice of leading in the nonprofit sector and strengthen their network of nonprofit colleagues.
