The Virginia Commonwealth University Great Place Initiative is a university effort to celebrate and enhance its dynamic living, learning and working community to advance faculty, staff and students.
To ensure that VCU remains a great place to work, the Great Place Initiative is hosting a seminar for faculty and staff called “VCU’s Great Place Initiative: Valuing Our Community Members.”
The interactive seminar will be co-facilitated by the university ombudsperson and the vice president for inclusive excellence and will provide an overview of key units and resources available for creating conditions necessary for all campus community members to feel welcomed, supported, included and valued by the university and each other.
The seminar is designed to:
· Increase awareness of institutional commitment to creating a great place for all VCU members
· Affirm the value of campus members and note the expectation of community building
· Communicate the roles of the Division for Inclusive Excellence and the Office of the Ombudsperson
· Engage in community team-building exercise to promote conflict resolution strategies
