To the VCU community,
The situation continues to unfold in Qatar as six Persian Gulf countries have broken diplomatic ties with Qatar. While we are not sure of the extent of the impact, our colleagues at VCU Qatar are safe and secure. The campus currently is in summer session with three classes and 28 students and is operating on a normal schedule. The VCU Qatar student affairs team is working nonstop to ensure that our students there are taken care of in every way.
The leadership of VCU Qatar is in close contact with the U.S. Embassy, deans of the other universities in Education City, Qatar Foundation officials and Global Rescue for any contingency planning regarding the diplomatic situation in the Gulf region. My office is in constant contact with Dean Kahera and his dedicated staff – who should be recognized by all of us for their extraordinary professionalism and dedication during this crisis.
We are monitoring the situation and will advise as we know more.
