Shift Retail Lab at Virginia Commonwealth University will launch the inaugural issue of Shift Magazine with an event this week.

The Shift Magazine Launch Party will be held on Thursday, Dec. 8, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Shift Retail Lab, 1235 W. Broad St.

The Shift Retail Lab, operated by the VCU da Vinci Center for Innovation, is a multifunctional retail space where past and present VCU students can showcase their work to gain insights and test their products, services and ideas with real-world customers. The lab supports VCU student innovators and entrepreneurs with retail and office space, and serves as a front door to Richmond’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.

Shift Magazine was created by students in a cross-disciplinary, project-based course co-taught by faculty from the da Vinci Center and the Robertson School of Media and Culture. Students worked in collaborative teams to interview, write and design the magazine.
