VCU to welcome more than 4,500 first-year students to campus during move-in

Virginia Commonwealth University’s Class of 2027 will move into campus residence halls on Friday, Aug. 18, and Saturday, Aug. 19, ahead of the 2023-24 academic year.

During move-in days, expect heavy traffic and limited parking in the vicinity of the university’s residence halls. Laurel Street will be closed between Grace and Main streets from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on both days.

Aaron J. Hart, Ed.D., vice president for student affairs at VCU, will be available for media interviews about move-in and the opening of the academic year from 9:30 to 10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 19, in front of Brandt Hall, at the corner of Laurel and Franklin streets. The news media is not allowed inside residence halls.

Classes begin Tuesday, Aug. 22.
