RamTech, Virginia Commonwealth University’s on-campus technology store, was named the recipient of the Innovative Use of Technology Award on Nov. 2 at the 2015 National Association of College Auxiliary Services Annual Conference in San Antonio. This is the second national award the store has received in just 18 months of operation, the first being the Excellence in Technology Retail Award from the National Association of College Stores in January 2015.

We're honored that RamTech was selected to receive this prestigious award.

“We're honored that RamTech was selected to receive this prestigious award,” said Jay Phinizy, manager of retail services at VCU. “While we see the great accomplishments the RamTech team achieves on a daily basis, it's very special to be recognized for technological innovation by a national organization with so many outstanding stores and auxiliary operations as members.”

The NACAS Innovative Use of Technology Award recognizes auxiliary services departments that use creative technology to help improve services for customers. RamTech’s new computer concierge service, launched this past summer as a way to help students select the best computer for their area of study, was specifically honored by NACAS. The Computer Concierge Service is an interactive, user-friendly webpage within their e-commerce site, designed to coincide with VCU’s Student Computer Initiative and specific departmental needs.

RamTech offers educationally priced Apple and Dell products to students, faculty and staff, plus a wide range of third-party accessories. RamTech features an in-store fixIT computer repair location, as well as payroll deduction and a competitive “Trade In & Trade Up” program. Customers can also shop online through RamTech’s e-commerce website, ramtech.vcu.edu.
