Richmond Braves baseball team mascot Diamond Duck recently delivered new children’s books to pediatric patients at the VCU Medical Center. Local baseball fans that donated a new children’s book for the Braves’ July 10 home game were given free admission. More than 200 books were collected. Books not presented to patients during the Diamond Duck visit were left with the VCU Children’s Medical Center and will be presented to children during future outpatient visits to the VCU Children’s Pavilion.

Held by her grandmother Wanda Clark, 10-month old Haley Hutchins, from Lunenburg County, gets two surprises -- a new “Garfield Color Me Fun” book and a visit from baseball’s Diamond Duck. The visit came on Haley’s discharge day, after spending five days at the VCU Children’s Medical Center.
