VCU, Community Memorial Healthcenter to celebrate new affiliation in South Hill

The Virginia Commonwealth University Health System and Community Memorial Healthcenter (CMH) of South Hill will celebrate their affiliation and introduce the new VCU Community Memorial Hospital at a community gathering in South Hill.
The “Honoring Our Past. Celebrating Our Future.” event will be held on Friday, June 27, 2014 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the CMH Education Center, 125 Buena Vista Circle, South Hill. Reporters are invited to cover the celebration, which includes the signing of affiliation documents and a reception. The event is open to the public.
The celebration will feature speakers who will reflect on the history of CMH, discuss the partnership and continued community commitment and celebrate the future.
Scheduled speakers include Scott Burnette, president and CEO of CMH; Wayne Parrish, chairman of the CMH Board of Directors; Michael Rao, Ph.D., president of VCU and the VCU Health System; Sheldon Retchin, M.D., CEO of the VCU Health System and senior vice president for VCU Health Sciences; John Duval, CEO of MCV Hospitals; John Ward, M.D., president of MCV Physicians; Manhal Saleeby, M.D., chief of staff for CMH Medical Staff; and John Lee, chairman of the steering committee for the CMH Board of Directors.
The event also will include music from the Buggs Island Community Band.
