Four faculty members in the School of Pharmacy's Department of Pharmaceutics have been elected to fellowship status in the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists. They are:
  • F. Douglas Boudinot, Ph.D., professor and dean of VCU Graduate Studies
  • Peter R. Byron, Ph.D., professor and chairman
  • H. Thomas Karnes, Ph.D., professor and graduate program director
  • Jurgen Venitz, M.D., Ph.D, associate professor and vice chairman
They were elected based on their research and scholarly contributions to the pharmaceutical sciences. A formal recognition ceremony will take place during the 2006 AAPS annual meeting and exposition Oct. 29 to Nov. 2 in San Antonio. The AAPS is an organization dedicated to upgrading human health thought the development of pharmaceuticals.




Everett L. Worthington Jr., Ph.D., Department of Psychology

Worthington’s new book, “Forgiveness and Reconciliation: Theory and Application,” Brunner-Routledge, 2006, was released Aug. 1. The book describes two decades of research on forgiving at the individual, social and societal levels. Topics include a stress and coping theory of forgiveness and relevant evidence; personality traits of forgivers and nonforgivers; and clinical applications to promote forgiveness and reconciliation. Worthington is an internationally recognized leader in teaching, researching and writing about forgiveness. He was the founding editor of “Marriage and Family: A Christian Journal” and was founding executive director and treasurer of the not-for-profit “A Campaign for Forgiveness Research.”
