Amy Foster, senior mass communications student at Virginia Commonwealth University and native of Mathews, Va., will represent VCU in the Association of College Unions International (ACUI) National Billiards Championship at East Carolina University in Greenville, N.C.
Amy recently became the ACUI Region 5 Women's Pocket Billiards champion for the third time during the regional competition at Clemson University. A regular of the University Student Commons & Activities Break Point Games Room, Amy has competed nationally for VCU since 1999.
Lindsay Velasco, also a senior, majoring in urban studies, took second place in the competition. Michael Tran, a junior electronic engineering student at VCU, won third place in the Men's Pocket Billiards competition, while Joshua Dickerson placed 12th in the same competition. A VCU student also made a showing in table tennis thanks to O.B. Oyarebu, who took fifth place.
The Break Point Games Room sponsors monthly tournaments in billiards, table tennis and other games. Students who consistently win these tournaments compete in an ACUI qualifying tournament held in November of each year. Winners are then sponsored by University Student Commons & Activities to participate in the ACUI regional competitions. The University Student Commons & Activities is proud to sponsor Amy Foster at the national level of ACUI's recreational competitions.
