The Virginia Commonwealth University Center for Clinical and Translational Research (CCTR) is hosting a Spring Open House on Thursday, March 20, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Richmond Academy of Medicine (RAM) building, 1200 E. Clay St.
All are welcome to visit the CCTR and talk with staff about the different cores and the resources and services available to all VCU investigators and research teams. Cores include the Research Incubator, Biomedical Informatics, Education, Clinical Research Services, Community Engagement and Research Resources.
The open house will also be a great opportunity to meet and greet the newest core leaders – David Fenstermacher, Ph.D., chief research information officer with the Biomedical Informatics Core, and Fredika Robertson, Ph.D., executive director of Clinical Research Services.
The CCTR provides the necessary infrastructure and resources for interdisciplinary human health research at VCU. Through its cores, the CCTR encourages, engages and supports collaborative participation of investigators and students through the university, community partners and volunteers in the Richmond region, and government organizations to work together on innovative research that transforms the scientific study of human health.
Research from across the university, including the life, physical, computer and social sciences, as well as engineering and economics, is supported by the CCTR. The center serves as an academic bridge from home departments for researchers and offers networking, training, services and access to core resources.
At the same time, the center builds and nurtures mutually beneficial partnerships with community practitioners, community organizations and patients to enhance the adoption of evidence-based best practices in general clinical practice, delivering improved medical care to the region and advancing discoveries that save the lives of patients around the world.
