Children’s Hospital of Richmond to Hold Graduation for Pediatric Cancer Patients

The Children’s Hospital of Richmond will hold a special ceremony for current and former patients of the Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Clinic who are graduating from high school.

The ceremony will take place Tuesday, June 7, from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Kontos Medical Sciences Building, 1217 E. Marshall St.

The Hospital Education Program, the Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Clinic and ASK, which is the Association for the Support of Children with Cancer, will recognize 22 of its high school seniors.

Fifteen of these students are oncology patients and seven are sickle cell patients, who continued their academic studies while undergoing treatment.

Recognition of the seniors will be made by Alma Morgan, educational consultant; Kamar Godder, M.D., director, Pediatric Hematology and Oncology Program; and local school division representatives.

Gerard Robinson, Virginia secretary of education, will be the keynote speaker. Scholarships provided by ASK also will be presented.
