Virginia Commonwealth University's L. Douglas Wilder School of Government and Public Affairs and the National Academy of Public Administration present the sixth annual Social Equity Leadership Conference.

"Social Equity: Putting Solutions into Practice" takes place Feb. 15 through Feb. 17 at the Omni Richmond Hotel. It is designed to promote academic research, innovative and effective government programs, and to bring more attention and resources to issues of social equity.

A media availability with Elsie Scott, Ph.D., interim president and CEO of the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation, CBCF, will take place from 3 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Thursday in the Rappahannock Room, second floor, 100 S. 12th St.

Robert D. Holsworth, Ph.D., dean of VCU's College of Humanities and Sciences, and Hannah S. Sistare, vice president for academy affairs at the National Academy of Public Administration, will join Scott for media questions.

Scott was appointed interim president and CEO of the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation in July 2006 after serving as vice president for research and programs. Scott is a nationally recognized expert on crime, hate violence, political involvement, law enforcement training and management, race and poverty and issues relating to African Americans and women.

Practitioners, academics, non-profit-organizations and students from around the country are participating in this year's conference, which is focused on reducing social inequities in the areas of health, emergency management and regionalism.
