Graduation for Pediatric Cancer Patients to Take Place at VCU Medical Center

The Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center on Tuesday will host its annual celebration in honor of graduating high school students who have been followed by the Hematology and Oncology Clinic.
The ceremony will take place Tuesday, June 8, from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Kontos Medical Sciences Building, 1217 E. Marshall St.
The Hospital Education Program, VCU Medical Center Pediatric Hematology and Oncology Clinic and ASK — The Association for the Support of Children with Cancer, will recognize 20 of its high school seniors.
Fourteen of these students are oncology patients and six are sickle cell patients, who continued their academic studies while undergoing treatment.
Recognition of the seniors will be made by Alma Morgan, educational consultant; Kamar Godder, M.D., director, Pediatric Hematology and Oncology Program; and local school division representatives.
Scholarships provided by ASK, the Sickle Cell Association of Richmond and memorial scholarships also will be presented.
