James Zogby To Speak at Arab-U.S. Educators Conference at VCU

James Zogby, president of the Arab American Institute, this week will deliver the keynote address of the 13th Annual Conference of the Arab-U.S. Association for Communication Educators at Virginia Commonwealth University.
Zogby will speak during the conference’s opening ceremony and dinner on Friday at 6 p.m. in Commonwealth Ballroom B of the VCU Student Commons, 907 Floyd Ave. Media interested in attending the address should contact Tom Gresham, VCU Communications & Public Relations, at (804) 828-6051, tmgresham@vcu.edu.
The Arab-U.S. Association for Communication Educators conference will run from Nov. 14 to Nov. 17 on the VCU campus. The theme this year is “Best Communication Practices in an Interconnected World.”
Participants will attend workshops, presentations and panel discussions and visit some local media, public relations and advertising venues. Participants will include representatives from Egypt, Kuwait, Morocco, India, England, Algeria, Oman, Romania, Syria, Lebanon, Iran, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, Pakistan, Sudan, Germany and the United States.
Sessions, which are open to the media, will include topics such as media evolution in the Arab world; international law, literacy and journalism; Islamic culture and the media; the portrayal of Darfur by cable news networks; using technology to raise awareness in an interconnected world; press freedom and Islamophobia.
