Bill Kotti announced this week that he is leaving his position as president of the Medical College of Virginia Foundation and chief development officer for the MCV Campus, effective Aug. 29.
"We are grateful to Bill for what he has accomplished during his tenure," said Sheldon Retchin, M.D., senior vice president for VCU Health Sciences and CEO of the VCU Health System. "He will certainly be missed by the MCV Foundation, its staff and its current and former trustees, as well as the entire VCU Medical Center community."
Kotti joined the MCV Foundation in January 2007. Under his leadership, the MCV Foundation's total assets grew from $291 million in fiscal year 2006 to $490 million in fiscal year 2014. During this time frame, new gifts and pledges to the MCV Campus averaged $49.3 million.
“Bill has dedicated eight years of his life to our foundation, establishing extraordinary relationships, passionately working to support philanthropy for the VCU Medical Center, and always sharing his talents to advance our cause," said Gail Johnson, chair of the MCV Foundation Board. "Many thanks to Bill for what he has done for us during his tenure with us. He will certainly be missed by the MCV Foundation, its staff, and its current and former trustees."
Senior Executive Director of Development for the MCV Foundation Brian Thomas will serve as interim foundation president. Board member Roger Boeve will chair the search committee to find a new president.
Kotti is moving to Atlanta where he will serve as associate vice president for development at Emory University.
