RICHMOND, Va. – Media veteran Pamela Lepley has been named director of Virginia Commonwealth University News Services. She will be responsible for leading the news and public information efforts of VCU's Academic and Medical College of Virginia Campuses.

"VCU is fortunate to have someone with Pam's breadth of experience to head the university's communications efforts," said Sue Ann Messmer, vice president for university outreach. "Pam and her staff will be working closely with the university community and the media to meet the public's need for timely and meaningful information."

Lepley joins VCU after seven years as vice president and director of public relations at Siddall Inc. of Richmond. She developed and directed strategic marketing and communications programs for a variety of national business and government clients, including University Health Systems of Eastern Carolina, the Virginia Department of Transportation, organ procurement organization LifeNet and The Flying Hospital.

"Every time you turn a corner, there's another great story to be told about VCU," Lepley said. "I'm looking forward to using those stories in a strategic, focused way to help raise the national profile of VCU."

Previously, Lepley was press secretary to the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Resources and a broadcast and print journalist. She also worked as a part-time faculty member in VCU's School of Mass Communications and the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown's School of Communications.

She is a member of the Public Relations Society of America and has earned an Accreditation in Public Relations (APR). She received her bachelor's degree in journalism from the Pennsylvania State University.
