David Urban, Ph.D., professor, Department of Marketing
Urban has begun his fourth season reviewing Donald Trump’s television show, “The Apprentice,” for the Richmond.com Web site. Urban’s column, “Deconstructing the Trumpster,” runs after each episode of the popular NBC show, analyzing the performance of the show’s contestants and highlighting business lessons that can be culled from the action. Urban’s column attracted a mention in the recent biography of Trump, “Trump Nation: The Art of Being the Donald,” by Timothy L. O’Brien.

Bruce Spiess, M.D., professor, vice-chairman, Department of Anesthesiology
Spiess is the senior editor of “Perioperative Transfusion Medicine,” a text published by Lippincott Williams and Wilkins. The book, an updated 2nd edition, is a comprehensive current reference on perioperative transfusion medicine and coagulation. It provides complete information on all current blood products and transfusion risks, transfusion and coagulation issues during the preoperative, intraoperative and postoperative periods, and specific concerns in each surgical subspecialty.

Janet Niemeier, Ph.D., assistant professor, Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation
Niemeier has been honored by the national certification body for Rehabilitation Psychologists. She has served as one of the six board members of the American Board of Professional Psychology and has received special certification in rehabilitation psychology.

Gurpreet Dhillon, Ph.D., professor, Department of Information Systems
Dhillon’s textbook, “Principles of Information Systems Security: Text and Cases,” was recently released by John Wiley and Sons, Inc. The book addresses both the technical and human sides of IT (information technology) security and equips managers and those training to be managers with an understanding of a broad range of issues related to information system security management. Dhillon is also the author of “Managing Information System Security.”



VCU School of Medicine additions

Florina Constantinescu, M.D., Ph.D.
, assistant professor, Division of Rheumatology Allergy and Immunology
Constantinescu plans to develop a clinical research program that blends her interests in rheumatology and bone metabolism. Constantinescu received her medical degree from the Carol Davila University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Bucharest, Romania, and her doctoral degree in nuclear medicine at the University of Medicine in Bonn, Germany. She will begin her faculty career in August.

Evren Burakgazi-Dalkilic Ph.D., Department of Neurology
Burakgazi-Dalkilic joined the Department of Neurology in February. She will be seeing inpatient and outpatient general neurology patients and patients with seizure disorders as well as working in the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit. Burakgazi-Dalkilic has specialized training and is able to identify patterns of behavior in seizures that predict surgical outcome.

David L. Weaver, Ph.D., Department of Radiology
Weaver will work in the Department of Emergency Medicine and Neuroradiology. Weaver begins his faculty career at VCU in April following nearly four years at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in Lakeland, Fla., Florida’s second busiest emergency department.
