New Rooftop Children’s Garden to Open at Children’s Hospital of Richmond at Virginia Commonwealth University

Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU (CHoR) will open a new Children’s Garden for inpatient pediatric patients on the MCV Campus.

The open air rooftop space serves patients admitted to the acute care pediatric units and their families. Approximately 5,300 children are admitted to these units each year, and the play deck is close enough to the inpatient rooms that children connected to multiple pieces of medical equipment, such as IVs and monitoring devices, can go outside and enjoy the fresh air. The space was designed to be inclusive and meets the special needs of children in wheelchairs and patient beds.
