VCU President Michael Rao, Ph.D., is calling for nominations for three awards for staff and administrative and professional faculty members.

The President’s Staff and Administrative and Professional Faculty Awards Program was established last year to recognize staff and administrative and professional (non-tenured) faculty for excellence, outstanding achievements and service excellence supporting VCU’s Code of Conduct; Quest for Distinction, which is the university’s strategic plan; diversity initiatives; and/or the Great Place Initiative.

VCU will award the President’s Award of Excellence to recognize an outstanding employee whose excellent work or actions brought positive attention to the university or health system; contributed to Quest for Distinction, diversity initiatives and/or the Great Place Initiative; used an innovative, creative and/or a problem-solving approach to his or her responsibilities; and whose performance has had an impact on diversity and the legacy and/or future of the university or health system.

The President’s Award of Excellence is the highest honor the university can bestow on one of its staff or administrative and professional faculty and is awarded only to an exceptional individual for contributions throughout his or her career at VCU. The recipient will receive an award of $4,000 and a framed certificate. The recipient will be presented with the award atVCU’s faculty convocation this fall.

The university also will recognize two employees with the President’s Outstanding Achievement Award for achievements that have resulted in significant benefit to the university or health system in support of VCU’s Quest for Distinction, diversity initiatives and/or the Great Place Initiative. Each recipient will receive a $3,000 award and a framed certificate.

VCU also will honor two employees with the President’s Service Excellence Award, which recognizes recipients who have consistently displayed the highest level of customer service, which support the Quest for Distinction, diversity initiatives and/or the Great Place Initiative,  including respect, integrity, responsiveness and initiative in support of VCU’s Quest for Distinction. Each recipient will receive a $2,000 award and a framed certificate.

The recipients of the President’s Award of Outstanding Achievement and the President’s Award of Service Excellence will be presented with their awards during VCU’s service awards ceremony.
