Nondiscrimination Policy Updates
Dear VCU community,
I hope you enjoyed a restful and recharging winter break. As we begin the business of the new year together, I remind you of VCU’s commitment to the acceptance and inclusion of all people and to make you aware of a few updates to our nondiscrimination responsibilities.
All employees should know and understand VCU’s policies and procedures related to nondiscrimination. These include:
Affirmation of VCU’s Equal Opportunity Policy
Sexual Misconduct/Violence and Sex/Gender Discrimination Policy
Notice of Nondiscrimination, Equal Opportunity, and Affirmative Action
Further, in keeping with new pay transparency regulations governing federal contractors, which take effect January 11, VCU prohibits discriminating against or discharging employees or job applicants because they have inquired about, discussed, or disclosed their own pay or the pay of another employee or applicant. As a public institution, VCU supports transparency in compensation and equitable compensation practices. Read more in the Pay Transparency Policy Statement.
For more information about VCU’s nondiscrimination policies, please contact Director of Equity and Access Services and Title IX Coordinator Laura Walsh Rugless at (804) 828-6404 or equity@vcu.edu.
I appreciate your commitment to ensuring that VCU is a national example for equity, inclusion, and compliance among 21st century research universities.
Sincerely,
Michael Rao
President
