Marcus E. Carr, Ph.D., M.D., Department of Internal Medicine
Carr, professor of medicine and pathology, has been appointed to Governor Warner's Hemophilia Advisory Board, where he will serve as a medical advisor/consultant. The board provides input to various government agencies about the status of Virginia's citizens with bleeding disorders. These disorders typically require life-long medical follow-up and have the potential to cause significant illnesses. In addition, Carr works with the Central Virginia Center for Coagulation Disorders, which incorporates the Richmond Comprehensive Hemophilia Care Center and Clinic, and the Special Coagulation Laboratory. The center provides clinical care, helps coordinate health care resources and is involved in research aimed at improving treatment of patients with bleeding disorders. These activities are performed at the VCU Medical Center with assistance and support of the Departments of Internal Medicine, Pediatrics and Pathology.
