Gay Cutchin, M.S., Office of Health Promotion, University Student
Health Services
Cutchin, coordinator of Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Services,
has been selected to receive the 2003 Peace Award in recognition of her
work with college students in the area of domestic violence. Cutchin was
selected for her dedication to serving college students and others in
the surrounding community who have been affected by domestic violence.
She will receive the award at a banquet in December. Cutchin also has
received a grant this year to fund a program on campus involving college
men and educating their peers about sexual assault and domestic violence.
Linda Hancock, Ph.D., R.N., C.F.N.P., University Student Health
Services
Hancock, assistant director of health promotions, was named Medical Professional
of the Month by Style Weekly in the Sept. 17 issue. Hancock was honored
for her efforts in helping college students quit smoking as well as her
public health outreach to college students at VCU and other college campuses.
This year she has received two grants in the area of substance abuse prevention
and tobacco use reduction in the college population.
David J. Urban, Ph.D., School of Business
Urban, professor of marketing in the School of Business, received the
Award for Innovative Excellence in Marketing Education, a national award
for teaching excellence. Urban received the award in August at the American
Marketing Association (AMA) Educators' Conference in Chicago. The AMA
award is the eighth national teaching award he has received since 1992,
coupled with two other local teaching awards from the VCU School of Business.
Nelson Wikstrom, Ph.D., School of Government and Public Affairs
Wikstrom, professor of political science, is the author of a new book
titled "County Manager Government in Henrico, Virginia: Implementation,
Evolution, and Evaluation." This book focuses on the experience of
Henrico County with the county manager form of government, since its implementation
in 1934.
