Rao R. Ivatury Trauma Symposium will focus on lessons from recent mass casualty events

The Division of Acute Care Surgical Services in Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center’s Department of Surgery will host the annual Rao R. Ivatury Trauma Symposium featuring speakers from across the country. The symposium is designed to educate attendees about current challenges and lessons learned from recent mass casualty events.
The event will take place on March 18 from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Richmond Marriot, 500 E. Broad St. Participation registration is required and can be done in advance online at http://www.ctcce.vcu.edu/ivaturysymposium/ or at the door.
Some keynote speakers include Keith Borg, M.D., who will present “Road Cycling and Multi-Casualty Triage from the Peloton,” and Tracey A. Dechert, M.D., who will present “Boston Marathon Bombing: From Preparedness to Postoperative Care Challenges and Successes.” Other topics include hospital disaster preparation, pediatric hospital preparedness and pre-hospital field response.
On-site and valet parking is available. Self-parking can be found in area garages, including one attached to the hotel lobby at 5th and Marshall streets.
