An anonymous communication was sent to the Rector of the Virginia Commonwealth University Board of Visitors, Thomas Rosenthal, which alleges the improper granting of a bachelor's degree. 

The Rector has asked the Academic and Health Affairs Policy Committee of the board, under the chairmanship of Thomas Snead, to oversee an investigation into the allegations and to report its findings to the board.
