Two Virginia Commonwealth University faculty members have been selected for Oxford’s Harris Manchester College 2007 Summer Research Institute.

The week-long institute draws scholars with diverse interests from many U.S. universities to study and write while in residence at University of Oxford in England.

Robin Matsuyama, Ph.D., an instructor in the VCU School of Medicine’s Department of Internal Medicine, researches health literacy and providing cancer care information to African-American patients. As a visiting fellow she will study health literacy in relation to the informed consent process in research involving human subjects.

Daniel Riddle, P.T., Ph.D., the Otto D. Payton Professor of Physical Therapy and adjunct professor in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, has recently completed a study of psychological distress in patients following knee replacement surgery. As a visiting fellow, he will be meeting with the Nuffield Department of Orthopaedic Surgery to explore a collaborative research plan to examine unicompartmental knee arthroplasty.

The institute will be conducted from June 24 through July 1.
