U.S. Sen. Mark Warner conducted a student town hall meeting at VCU on Nov. 21 to discuss the national deficit and debt.
“No issue has occupied my time, attention and focus like our national debt and the deficit,” Warner said.
For more than a year, Warner worked as one of the “Gang of Six,” six members of Congress from both parties proposed a $3.7 trillion dollar debt-reduction plan. But the plan failed to get widespread support.
On the same day of Warner’s town hall meeting, another Congressional supercommitte failed to reach an agreement on debt reduction, which Warner said was yet another example of dysfunction and partisanship prevailing in Washington.
Warner addressed more than 50 students and took their questions at the town hall meeting, which took place at the University Student Commons.
