VCU Alumni Association Welcomes New Board Members

The Virginia Commonwealth University Alumni Association recently appointed six new members to its Board of Directors.

The new board members are:

-  Leah L. E. Bush, M.D., chief medical examiner for the Commonwealth of Virginia and recipient of a master's degree in biology from the College of Humanities and Sciences in 1980 and a medical degree from the School of Medicine in 1984

-  Gregory B. Fairchild, Ph.D., professor in the University of Virginia Darden School of Business and 1988 VCU School of Mass Communications graduate

-  Aaron Gilchrist, WWBT-TV anchor and 2003 VCU School of Mass Communications graduate



Paul D. McWhinney

-  Chris Jones, engineer at Qimonda and 2001 VCU School of Engineering graduate



John S. Philips
John S. Philips
-  Paul D. McWhinney, director of Family Services for the Virginia Department of Social Services and recipient of a bachelor's degree (1974) and a master's degree (1979) from the VCU School of Social Work


-  John S. Philips, who received a master's in real estate and urban land development from VCU in 1978.

The alumni association continues to grow under the leadership of its president, Dan Massey, a senior vice-president at SunTrust Mortgage, Inc., and a VCU School of Business graduate.

"Increasing the influence and impact of our alumni in support of students, faculty and the broader community is important," Massey said.  "Alumni growth and retention are the keys to meeting these objectives. I commit to build upon the great past work of our alumni association and harness the excitement and energy that is much a part of the VCU tradition."
